Read this devotion the day after Isaiah did his 4th athletics carnival.  Isaiah is one of those kids who always comes smack bang in the middle on these things and he struggled big time with the fact that he didn't get a ribbon again this year!  I found myself trying to tell him "it's ok you did your best buddy"  But I soon realised that with Isaiah his best wasn't cutting it!  His comment to me was "But Mum I really believed I'd do well".

Chris  Caine in her devotion challenged me to ask this question?  How many things are we doing that we just shouldn't be doing?  How many things do we strive at, kill ourselves with feeling inadequate and failing at that perhaps we aren't made to do?  God gave us gifts and talents that are different from anyone else.  The question to ask yourself is "What am I good at?  What are the talents and passions that God has given me?"  and then chase them down and do them!  Stop killing yourself doing things that you were never good at or designed to do!  Isaiah will eventually learn what he's good at and it may or may not be atheletics.  With time and direction he'll find  that perhaps he's more of a long distance runner or maybe not. He is kind, he's practical, he's a whiz at maths.  Let's focus on the things we are good at  and focus less on what we maybe were never designed to do. - Ps Melissa

I love this quote …

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” ~ Albert Einstein

Focus on being who God made you to be. You have the exact gifts and talents needed to fulfill your God-given purpose. God just wants YOU to be YOU!

For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. (Romans 12:4-8, NKJV)

So true - yet when we haven't explored all the options, we may not have discovered what God has designed us for. Keep trying, have a go - do something new! Keep searching to find the right fit for you. Seek and you will find:)
