Prayer + Fasting Day One Devotional

Habakkuk 2:1
[1] I will stand on my guard post and station myself on the rampart; and I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me...

What does the voice of God actually sound like? How do we, as followers of Jesus, tune into the right frequency, that we might hear what God is speaking to us as we navigate life’s events?

The Prophet Habakkuk reveals a God who’s voice is not just heard with our ears, but seen with our eyes. In other words, God’s voice is intimately connected to God’s actions that we see in our worlds. When God speaks to us He brings order and direction, through the life giving power of the Holy Spirit. As we fast and pray today and throughout the week, ask the question - what is God saying to you through the things He is doing in your lives?

If the Shoe Fits

Brilliant Message from Ps Stu on Sunday.  Here's the story he read out at the end.....

If the shoe fits...

You are looking for a pair of shoes. You go to this shoe shop that has every shoe imaginable is there.

There are sport shoes, dress shoes, casual shoes...Hundreds to choose from. All the popular brands - Nike, Converse, Doc Martins. There are shoes worn by famous people including the boots that Neil Armstrong wore on the Moon.

Whilst looking, there was this one dusty pair of sandals that looked like they were 2000 years old.

These sandals have a tag which says, “Guarantee for eternity”.

You are looking at these sandals and the shop attendant says “Oh, you spotted those sandals. Yes, they do look a bit rough, but they are that ‘Retro’ style which is trending these days.”

“Very simple design, and completely organic with no man-made materials used. These sandals are hand-made but tough. They are guaranteed to never wear out, never to break, never to slip, never to shrink, they won’t let you down and will never to fail.  These shoes can be used anywhere, anytime and it has even been reported that they can walk on water.”

“These shoes are not just good for your feet, but excellent for the soul.”

What is the price for these sandals you wonder - surely they must be expensive for shoes this good.

The Shop Assistant goes to the computer to look up the price, taps away, and then looks a bit perplexed; “Well, this is a bit unusual, but 'no charge', the computer is saying that they have already been paid for.”

You are a bit confused. “What...no... that make no sense...how can that be...I mean, well who paid for them?”

The Assistant goes back to the computer and reports “Apparently, the shoe maker himself.”

You try on the sandals, they fit perfectly.
